How It Works

Quote: First thing's first. Our team will come to the site and examine the area. We start by taking measurements, checking for moisture (with our moisture meter), and testing the hardness of the subfloor. We will also determine if and any concrete repairs need to be made, if there is any previous coating on the concrete, and if there are any stem walls or plywood stairs involved. When all this is done we will factor everything in and give you a fair and honest quote.

Surface Prep: The most important part of our process is surface preparation. Epoxy and many floor coatings we use, need to be applied on a properly prepped surface. The process involves grinding your concrete floor with our concrete grinder and our hand grinders. Grinding the subfloor ensures that the coating applied will have a strong mechanical bond to the surface. Without this step the floor could peel up and de-laminate months or years down the road. We take prep very seriously and dedicate the utmost attention to this necessary step.

Repairs: Some surfaces, especially older garages can be riddled with cracks and divots. We normally use an epoxy crack filler to fill in these divots and cracks, ensuring a seamless coat on top without any odd spots. For larger repairs, we use a specialized, fast drying, concrete mortar repair. This ensure that the surface stays level and wont sink down over time since the repair is larger.

Coating/Flake Application: Once the surface is grinded and repaired we start by applying our first coat of product. For flake garages we generally use an epoxy basecoat with a polyaspartic clear topcoat. We usually recommend 3 days before light foot traffic to allow the epoxy to fully cure. This process usually takes 2 days. A 1 day install is possible with a polyaspartic basecoat and clearcoat. For solid color application, it is recommend to apply 3 coats of product. A skim coat, a basecoat, and a protective clear topcoat for longevity. We follow supplier guidelines of 16-24 hours between each coat and 3-5 days after the last coat before light foot traffic. For metallic floors, a 3 coat system is generally used but a 4th protective coat on top is highly recommended.
